Position Title: AV Technician II

Duration: 12 Months + Possible Extension
Pay Rate: $40 - $48/hr on W2
Location: Sunnyvale, CA 94086

Job Description:

The worksite is Sunnyvale, though a need to work out of the San Francisco office remains possible during the engagement. Candidates must possess the flexibility and logistical capacity to transition to the San Francisco office for future operational needs.

Top 3 Responsibilities

  • AV & Sensor Triage / Maintenance: Perform hands-on physical triage, advanced electromechanical troubleshooting, sensor swaps, and harness/power distribution repairs directly on autonomous vehicle platforms.
  • Linux Diagnostics & Software Provisioning: Utilize Linux CLI navigation to inspect system log files, monitor active processes, trigger validation scripts, flash firmware, and manage network interfaces to ensure vehicle operational readiness.
  • Sensor Suite Calibration & Depot Operations: Execute physical and software-based calibration routines (LiDAR, Radar, Camera target/chart alignments, intrinsic/extrinsic calibrations) and maintain asset tracking in designated inventory systems.

Mandatory Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on electromechanical troubleshooting experience in complex hardware validation, break/fix, electronics repair, or testing environments such as autonomous vehicles, robotics, aerospace, data centers, defense technology, or high-tech manufacturing.
  • Strong Linux CLI proficiency with the ability to navigate Ubuntu/Debian systems, inspect log files, monitor system status, manage network interfaces (IP configuration, ping, etc.), and execute validation scripts independently.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite in Sunnyvale with flexibility to support operations in San Francisco if needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, bend, and safely work around vehicles and calibration equipment.
  • Willingness to support alternative shifts, evening coverage, and weekend schedules as required.

Desired Skills

  • Experience supporting autonomous vehicle fleets or ADAS maintenance.
  • Hands-on experience calibrating LiDAR, Radar, Camera, and GPS/IMU systems, including target and chart alignment.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic Bash or Python scripts for troubleshooting.
  • Experience auditing SOPs, mentoring technicians, and serving as a technical escalation point.

Job Details

Direct experience supporting autonomous vehicle fleets or ADAS maintenance is highly preferred and should be prioritized. Candidates from adjacent industries—including robotics testing, drone fleet operations, aerospace testing, data center hardware break/fix, or high-tech manufacturing—with strong Linux CLI and electromechanical troubleshooting skills are also excellent candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the onsite technical support resource for remote software and hardware engineering teams by performing vehicle-side diagnostics, sensor swaps, and physical interventions.
  • Execute validation, testing, firmware flashing, and troubleshooting procedures for autonomous sensor systems including LiDAR, Radar, Cameras, IMUs, and vehicle compute units.
  • Perform sensor calibration and alignment using both physical and software-based calibration workflows.
  • Monitor Slack, Jira, and telemetry dashboards for hardware alerts, faults, and service requests.
  • Install software packages, update drivers, flash firmware, and execute validation scripts using Linux command-line tools.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of calibrations, testing results, vehicle uptime, and inventory movements.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in advanced hardware validation, enterprise hardware maintenance, or electromechanical systems troubleshooting.
  • Experience with autonomous vehicle components or similar technologies, including LiDAR, Radar, Cameras, CAN Bus, GPS/IMU systems, or other complex hardware integrations.
  • Strong Linux CLI skills, including system diagnostics, log analysis, process monitoring, network interface management, and basic Bash/Python script interpretation.
  • Demonstrated ability to isolate and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues in complex integrated systems.
