Basic Purpose
The Construction Administrator is responsible for ensuring that the construction scope of Electrical Distribution line projects is clearly defined, overseeing the preparation and administration of bidding documents, and managing contractor compliance. This role includes monitoring, inspecting, and approving work performed by contractors to ensure adherence to specifications, quality standards, and timelines. The Construction Administrator also provides leadership, training, and technical expertise to fellow team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, inspect, and approve Electrical Distribution construction work performed by outside contractors to ensure quality and compliance with project specifications.
- Maintain a daily log of contractor activities and prepare weekly progress reports.
- Coordinate efforts with Project Managers, Project Engineers, other departments, and government agencies to align project objectives.
- Schedule outages with Operations to support construction timelines.
- Review design drawings for constructability and provide technical input on Electrical Distribution line projects.
- Ensure construction complies with local and federal permit requirements.
- Manage construction contracts, review contractor schedules, and approve invoices for payment.
- Negotiate change orders and address modifications to the scope of work.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, codes, and applicable regulations throughout the construction process.
- Provide guidance and training to team members, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school and 2+ years of related work experience, including at least 1 year of experience with electrical distribution line construction methods.
- For candidates without a degree, 5+ years of related work experience, with at least 1 year in electrical distribution line construction methods.
- Contract administration and collaboration with Supply Chain.
- Construction management and transmission line/substation construction methods.
- Local and federal permit requirements, processes, and procedures.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication abilities.
- Effective customer service and collaboration skills.
