Position Title: Designer, UX Design Lab (Packaging Design)
Duration: 8-month role
Pay Rate: $25.85/hr on W2
Location: Clark NJ, 07066 Hybrid
What You Will Do:
As a Designer within the UX Design Lab, reporting to the Head of UX Design Lab in North America, you will be a key player in shaping the future of packaging, bringing an elevated innovation experience through design: desirability and sensoriality; new usage experiences and functionalities; sustainability and invoking emotions.
You'll also collaborate closely with a diverse team of marketing professionals, engineers, product developers, and laboratory experts, both internally and internationally, as well as external suppliers. Your work will directly impact the innovation pipeline, ensuring our packaging is not only aesthetically pleasing but also intelligent, sustainable, and technically feasible.
You will contribute to the UX Design Lab in North America:
· Consumer-Centric Design: You will analyze consumer needs and behaviors to create packaging solutions that meet their expectations and enhance their experience.
· Aesthetic & Creative Excellence: You will leverage your creativity and understanding of brand DNA to design stunning and desirable packaging that elevates the consumer experience.
· Trend Forecasting: You will stay abreast of competitive trends, critically evaluating existing packaging and identifying opportunities for innovation.
· Sustainable Solutions: You will proactively explore eco-responsible materials and manufacturing processes, ensuring our packaging aligns with sustainability goals.
· Technical Feasibility: You will collaborate with engineers and product developers to ensure your designs are technically feasible, cost-effective, and manufacturable.
· Design Thinking Leadership: You will lead and participate in Design Thinking workshops and Design Sprints, driving innovation on our most ambitious projects.
· Co-Creation workshops with consumers: upstream sessions together with consumers, to ideate new user experiences and innovations
· Prototyping & Supplier Collaboration: You will create, and test prototypes using rapid prototyping techniques and maintain close relationships with suppliers to explore new materials and technologies.
Key responsibilities include:
· Research & Innovation projects: upstream R&I driven innovations, together with the Advanced Engineering team and R&I Development Labs
· Packaging projects: upstream Packaging Labs driven innovations, together with the support of all of the Packaging Labs (Advanced Engineering, Technical Design Center, Packaging Science Center, etc.)
· Brand projects: brand driven innovations, focusing to incorporate both an elevated innovation experience and sustainability through design
· Developing and animating the connection with Operational teams (Packaging, Development, Technical Design Center, etc.), Research & Innovation teams, and Brands.
· Leading local UX Design projects as part of the global portfolio
· Collaboration with external resources / partners including design agencies
