Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Project Manager to oversee and manage construction projects within the retail grocery industry. This role involves coordinating all aspects of the construction process, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, budget management, vendor coordination, and collaboration with external contractors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction, excellent project management skills, and an in-depth understanding of retail grocery development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate with architects, contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Oversee administrative tasks, including bid analysis, estimating, and pre-construction meetings, while assisting the Director of Construction.
  • Review contractor schedules, submittals, and schedules of values, and respond to contractor RFIs.
  • Negotiate contracts to ensure fair pricing for change orders and assess their impact on budgets and timelines.
  • Review applications for payment and effectively manage project budgets and financial resources.
  • Coordinate procurement and installation of owner-supplied fixtures, kitchen equipment, and furniture.
  • Generate detailed project reports and cost analysis for stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction quality, ensure due diligence, and oversee punch list completion.
  • Engage with local government authorities and property owners for compliance and approvals.
  • Collaborate with teams on MEP system integration and ensure smooth project execution.
  • Assist in building evaluations and due diligence by preparing physical audit reports.
  • Provide regular project updates and reports to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Mitigate risks, resolve conflicts, and manage change orders to minimize project disruptions.
  • Ensure compliance with lease agreements, safety regulations, and construction standards.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in project management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial construction, preferably in the retail grocery sector.
  • Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software for reviewing and interpreting construction drawings.
  • Certifications (Preferred but not required): PMP, CPC, or related project management certification.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Bluefin, Procore).
  • Strong knowledge of lease agreements and their impact on construction projects.
  • In-depth understanding of MEP systems management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong financial acumen for budgeting and expense management.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external contractors.
  • Strong attention to detail and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to safety standards and regulatory compliance.
